Recreation

The Touchstone experience can be all-inclusive. The school offers three delicious and wholesome meals per day, comfortable accommodations, a woodland campus, and inspiring and informative craft workshops. We also encourage you, either before or after your time at Touchstone, to explore the many exciting amenities that the Laurel Highlands has to offer. Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania, Touchstone is close to a wide variety of the region’s most interesting cultural, recreational, historic, and artistic attractions. Within a short distance of our campus, you can:

  • Tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpieces, Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob
  • Explore the subterranean wonders of the Laurel Caverns
  • Experience the region’s dynamic history at Fort Necessity National Battlefield
  • Visit luxury destination Nemacolin Woodlands Resort’s golf courses, casino, galleries, adventure center, world-class spa and more
  • Relax in style at the historic Summit Inn Resort
  • Raft or kayak the whitewater rapids, hike, bike and more at Ohiopyle State Park
  • Discover a new family heirloom at one of the region’s many antique shops
  • Sample the “fruit of the vine” at one of several local wineries

Touchstone Center for Crafts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance excellence in the arts and crafts by educating and encouraging individuals to develop technical skills, good design, and innovative expression.

Touchstone Center for Crafts stands in solidarity with the Black community and condemns all acts of racism, discrimination, and senseless violence. We firmly believe that everyone has a right to dignity, respect, and equality without fear. As an organization, we commit to listen and learn and to grow. We will continue to work to empower people to use art as a means of expression, a way to build community, and a powerful voice for change.
